Some people theorise Reincarnation rests on the belief that after the death of the physical body there is some element left of each person that then goes on to survive. They begin another journey if their existence and therefore the end is only the beginning.
In my opinion I think that once separated from the body the soul becomes all intelligence. In our lifetime it would be very difficult to function if past lives were constantly being remembered. So I believe this is why the soul which the mind cannot touch with thought retains the knowledge if the incarnations and not the spirit.
When we die the two reconnect until the next life begins. I think that we are here on this earth to learn from the raw materials of physical experience. But because we have free will we make some choices which are not always wise and do not nurture our spirit and soul.
Reincarnation has been called many things
Metempsychosis
The cycle of rebirth
Transmigration of the soul
Reincarnation makes so much sense to me. I just can't believe that the activity of mind/spirit totally ceases at death. (And I find the classic notion of "heaven" supremely silly.)
ReplyDeleteI also believe in karma--the notion that as you give, so you receive. Not necessarily in the next life, sometimes in this one. But not necessarily in a direct or obvious manner, either.
I think it's so sad that people think that all the knowledge they have gained in this life is for nothing, and that when they die, thats it! There's so much more to death. It's a whole new journey, a new beginning.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of gaining more experience with each lifetime, earning a better life next time with our actions in this life. I also am intrigued by the idea of all intellects being interconnected.
ReplyDeleteHow could we bear the deaths of loved ones if we thought we'd truly never see them again? It's too harsh.
So true Cate. Many people come back saying I saw you when you did that, or when so and so was born. No one is ever really gone. They just exist on a different vibration.
ReplyDeleteI wrote a true story about when my son was in the Iraq war and what he saw when he was injured. The book dissapeared when my publisher went down, maybe I'll put the story on here one day.
